Friendly, welcoming, dog friendly. Basic accommodation, well worth the money
Menu and food were okIt was clear this was a pub where the regular customers came firstThere was little interaction from staff with us, although they were polite. There was much banter and conversation with people who appeared to be localFound this rather intimidating
Called for dinner, the children's meals fine but my wife & I had large haddock which had good crisp batter but little fish.
Oh deary deary me!! We saw this outwardly fine looking pub that welcomes dogs and thought this would be the place for our lunch. We went in and while my husband chose where to sit I went to the bar for a drink. The half pint glass still had lipstick around the rim. I sat down and took stock and found the place to be dirty. The ceiling fan was covered in thick black dust with plenty of flies buzzing around it. The wooden chairs were sticky and table cloths frayed. The salt and pepper pot had not seen a clean in weeks, and the menus smeared in some unknown sticky substance. I had to visit the ladies and found this too could do a with a good clean. The waste bin in the cubicle did have a clean bin liner but it didn't have a lid on so, as one can imagine, any waste was on display. If the areas that the public have access to are in such a state I dread to imagine what the food preparations area is like. We chose not to dine here for fear of ticktackaroo!
Pub very dated and dirty in appearance splash marks on walls,dirt, ect can't tell last time the fish tank was cleaned. Food was not badly prices, 2 for 10 however portions were extremely small and low quality food. Service was quick and pub was dog friendly hence 2*
